As BMW prepares for the 2009 Frankfurt auto show, it's teasing the press--and you, by proxy--with driblets of information on its upcoming show cars.
Yesterday, we brought you the MINI Coupe Concept--and today brings a video clip from the German automaker, teasing its new "Vision EfficientDynamics" concept car.The new concept's been the subject of rumor for weeks. A clay model spotted near BMW's styling studios was thought to be a mockup of the concept--then dismissed by BMW as a five-year-old study. Then came more rumor, that the concept would carry a hybrid three-cylinder powertrain and a four-door coupe body.
Now comes word that the new concept--seen only in the barest of details--will be a bellwether for BMW's styling themes coming to cars in the near future.
In this short clip, you'll see a brief flash of a part of a car. (Don't worry--we've grabbed this still for you.) Over it, BMW writes some hefty checks: "We do not build cars--we are the creators of emotion," the video boasts, before it ends with a promising line, "Joy defines the future."
We're all for joy in the auto industry these days. There's more to come on the BMW concepts, and MINI and Rolls-Royce, too. Stay tuned as TheCarConnection, MotorAuthority and GreenCarReports bring you live coverage from the 2009 Frankfurt auto show, starting in just a few weeks--and stay up to date on the show's new concepts and production cars in our preview linked below.
