Audi has a busy summer on tap, with the launch of a new five-door A5 Sportback hatch coming next month and the debut of a new concept car to commemorate its 100th anniversary.
AutoExpress has photos of the new A5 Sportback unadorned, and reports the car will be shown publicly at the Frankfurt motor show in September. The five-door will be a more curvaceous counterpart to the A4 Avant wagon, and will also fit in the porfolio with the slopeback A7 concept shown at the Detroit auto show in January.
The new Sportback promises to offer a wide range of engines including an RS5 version with about 450 hp, AutoExpress adds. (Here in the U.S., Audi's A4 loses its V-6 option this year, while the A5 keeps a single V-6 edition and adds a turbo four to the mix.)
As for Audi's concept, there's very little circulating the Web. Some sources suggest the special car to be introduced this summer will be a new version of the R8. TheCarConnection.com's sources and recent comments Audi chairman Rupert Stadler suggest the 100th anniversary car will be a more dramatic concept with heritage details and the usual forward-looking conceptual ideas.
TheCarConnection.com will have more details as they emerge. until then, you can satisfy your Audi urge with more full reviews or by following cars like the 2012 Audi Q3 over on the Audi tag in TCC News.
