Seven's the magic number for the range-topping Alpina version of BMW's 2009 7-series, the Alpina B7. Seven horsepower, that is. Eschewing the last Alpina B7's 5oo hp, supercharged 4.4-liter V-8, the new version will use twin-turbos to huff out a rumored 7 hp more. Above is a teaser sketch of the new B7, released on the internet in December. The vehicle is rumored for a March debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
The previous-gen B7 was a rather astonishing beast that cracked off 0-60 mph runs in a fleet 4.8 seconds. Flatter, earlier torque delivery afforded by BMW's twin-turbo setup should equal or better acceleration numbers while also providing rather furious step-off.

After driving the 2009 7-series at the Paris Auto Show last fall we were relieved by its sexier, broad-shouldered look, and we appreciated its friendlier iDrive and breathtaking infotainment suite that includes in-car internet access and an owner's manual wired into the car's microchip brain. All in all, a great place for 507 horses and an untold amount of torque to reside, leaving passengers breathless and striking fear into drivers of lesser sedans (read: just about everyone).
