Find a Car

It’s with a bit of sadness that I write to report I have left The Car Connection, the automotive website I launched a dozen years ago.  While my departure may be bittersweet, I can say I’m proud of what we’ve been able to build – one of the Internet’s most useful sources of automotive information – and what I expect to see from TCC going forward.

Late last year, I sold the company to Car Advisory Network, now High Gear Media, and have worked diligently with the new owners to continue my original vision and expand it in ways that will serve even more users than before. Now that The Car Connection has been re-launched and High Gear Media's overall strategy is shifting it into this strong new direction, I realize this is the perfect time for me to step out and let the new management team move forward with their plans. I have great respect for the team and what they are aiming for. I have little doubt they’ll create the definitive go-to source for consumers looking to buy the right car. Over the coming months, they’ll be adding a wealth of useful new features that will support their ambitious plans.

As for myself, I will continue to cover the automotive industry, as I have for 30 years, now on a freelance basis. This will also give me the freedom to pursue other opportunities – as many of you are aware, I served as volunteer chairman of NextCruise, which was a first-of-its-kind event bringing together the industry’s leading automakers to present their latest “green” technology to the public.

You’ll obviously be hearing more from me, but for the moment, let me return to the heart of this letter, and that’s to thank you for the support you have given The Car Connection over the last decade.  You, the reader, have helped make TCC what it is today, and you’ll continue to be the foundation of the site as it continues towards an exciting future.

  1. Thanks for all the excellent information over the past years. Have really enjoyed The Car Connection. Good luck to you Paul.

  2. Paul,
best wishes. I enjoyed watching you on Autoline Detroit and other forums, and also enjoyed reading the carconnection, esp. in its original format. Even now, I still look at the blogs, as well as, once a month, at the detailed sales numbers links you provided (PR NEwswire)

  3. Good luck guy to your next life after TCC.
I like to add that some of the things removed from TCC was what I started reading the site for, so pls add them back, eg. auto maintenance. I know change is important but remember what attracted your supporters in the first place. If it morphs into something else, it runs into the chance of loosing my choice of auto web site information, etc.

  4. Visits to TCC declined from once or more per day to once per week to monthly or less as it changed and lost relevance to me. The same is true for Winding Road.
Farewell Paul. I greatly enjoyed the content on TCC for several years and give you my thanks for your efforts.
I will now delete my TCC bookmark.

  5. Thank you for a reliably good read for car guys. You gave a lot while not asking for anything in return.
    All the best to you.
