We've shown you spy photos of the 2010 Ford Fusion earlier this year, but today, TheCarConnection.com's spy photographers got even closer to the final version of the sedan that's coming soon from Dearborn.

The look of the 2010 Ford Fusion is quite different from the current car. The grille appears deeper and more elegant than in the current car. The grille dips down into the front bumper, while the outer edges of the bumper slant upward as they reach the side of the car. The silhouette, though, doesn't appear to have changed much from the current car, suggesting that the Fusion and the new Mazda6 may be diverging on the road to sales success. More character lines on the front fenders and a revised tail suggest that this is something less than a complete renovation, as is also the case with the Mazda6.

The big news with the new version of the Fusion will undoubtedly be the new Ford Fusion Hybrid coming in the 2009 calendar year. Likely related to the four-cylinder hybrid powertrain in the Ford Escape, the Ford Fusion hybrid will have better fuel economy than the Toyota Camry Hybrid, according to a recent promise by Ford.--KGP Photography

  1. It's just as ugly as the current car. What a waste of dollars. Bring on the Mondeo!

    Bad stuff?

  2. Looks good to me, as does the current car. Not much point spending big bucks on totally new design when the Euro version will take over soon.

  3. The front definitely looks good. I really like the larger three bar grill, that still has nice and tight parting lines between them and the surrounding surfaces. Nice next-gen evolution. The rear end is the definition of next-gen evolution, and hasn't changed too much style-wise from the current. I do hope that's false red material on the back, because it would look ugly in the back with taillamps that large. It's looks alot more European. I could definitely see a Mondeo badge on that thing. Overall, nice evolution!
