Ford says the Shelbyfied 'Stang has hit the "upper stratosphere of road-legal sports cars," thanks to the aero and suspension changes the special edition gets over less rarified pony cars. On the GT500KR, that includes a carbon-fiber front splitter, a rear spoiler, and a lower ride height. Drag is down 3 percent in the KR, and front-end downforce is boosted 31 percent; the KR's suspension has stiffer struts and rides almost an inch lower than the GT500 edition.
Ford and Shelby also fit special Goodyear F1 tires to the GT500KR to vault it into the "top level of the sports car handling echelon."
