Find a Car

Our colleague and friend, Katie Merx, from the Detroit Free Press, has taken an interesting look at the future of General Motors’ troubled HUMMER brand. We won’t summarize all the specifics, as you might be better heading to the site for her take on the story.

But here are a few interesting statistics that Merx gathered:

* $82.88: The cost to fill up an H2’s 32-gallon tank at $2.39 a gallon, in 2006, when sales peaked, just above 70,000

* $131.62: The cost to fill up an H2’s 32-gallon tank at today’s Michigan price of $4.11.3

* 10.7 percent: The percentage of HUMMERs sold outside North America last year

* 0.3 percent: HUMMER’s 2007 U.S. market share

* 170: The number of U.S. HUMMER dealers

* 224: HUMMER dealers outside the U.S.

* 60 percent: May’s decline in HUMMER sales compared to year-earlier numbers

Thanks, Katie!
