Lamborghini's lightweight Gallardo, the Superleggera, has finished its production run.
Back in 2007, when we drove the 530-horsepower supercar in Arizona, we called the Superleggera "a beautifully absurd piece of machinery." The stats backed up themselves: with its 5.0-liter V-10 turning out 530 hp through a manual gearbox, the Super-L turned in a 0-60 mph time in 3.8 humbling seconds.
In the end, Lamborghini built just 172 copies of the Superleggera — 46 orange cars, 45 yellow, 37 black, 34 gray, and 10 in white — which virtually ensures each one will be a collector's item among collectors' items.
We're not quite ready to let go, so join us in a walk through our high-resolution Superleggera photo gallery as we reminisce about rolling through Scottsdale in a Lambo train that stopped morning traffic. And if you missed it, read up on our Superleggera road test while we try to line up a ride in the newest Lambo LP560-4, okay?
