Big Oops: New Kia Soul Hits the 'Net

Follow Marty

How do you say "oh, crap" in Korean? We're listening hard for it, now that clean shots of the production-ready Soul have hit the Web (thanks to kia-world.net and Autoblog).

The Soul, destined either for the afterlife or the New York auto show, will show up next week looking remarkably like the Soul concepts that we brought you from the Geneva motor show two weeks ago. There's no Soul Diva in the production lineup, but it is New York and we're sure Tyra Banks will be somewhere within a 20-block radius since cameras will be rolling.

The Soul, we suspect, is based on Kia's Spectra running gear, but wears the tall-wagon body of a Scion xB. We actually like the Kia's shape a little better--it's more goofy and friendly than the seriously thick piece the xB has become. The interior no doubt will have a range of custom trim options, and maybe someone will strap a blower to the Soul's mid-size four-cylinder engine and make things interesting.

Stay tuned for more pics of the Soul from New York, and for other breaking news from the show.

  3. I have to confess the new Scion should have looked like this - the model Toyota is producing seems to be the exact opposite of the old Xb - in my area at least, the new one is not selling well.

  4. If they can come up with a lot of options like a sun roof which Scion doesn't offer and can give decent mileage then what is there not to like. Keep the price down and their warranty the same as the rest of their products and I could see one in my drive way. Much more friendly looking then the XB....

Don't judge others by yoru own low standards, I never owned a Ford of ANY kind, let alone its lowly loser Escort. I drive HONDAS and BMWS. MAgnificent 7 BMWs lately. MOVIESTAR BMWs. (mine is the exact size and color and styling as Bond's "Rental" in Hamburg in 1997's "Tomorrow Never Dies".

As for yourself, I'm glad you can get excited by a KIA of all makes!! LOL...

  6. Most scions are FRAUDS, they are nothing more than overpriced Yarises and other Lowly TOyotas, but for $1000s more. COnsumers are not damned fools. ANd Young COnsumers in particular. Scion failed, but failed even more miserably among its supposed target audience, the young. Most scions are bought by Boomers and elderly ladies that want to save $ on gas etc. and cannot afford an overpriced Buick no more.. LOL

  7. Sorry, Thor, but you remind me of the blowhard who sat next to my wife and I on the way home from Vegas and wouldn't shut up until I interrupted him, and then got indignant.
