First there was Vincent Price, then Jenna Jameson. Who’s the biggest star at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum this week? Why, none other than Richard Petty, who along with Dale Earnhardt, Jr., have been copied in wax, dressed down in jeans (racing suits would melt the wax, we think), and propped up at the Las Vegas outpost of the world-famous kitschfest.
The wax figures made their debut this weekend at the Neon Garage at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, for this weekend’s races, before their permanent installation at the Venetian, alongside Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon.
When asked, Earnhardt, Jr., said that he didn’t know “which is a bigger honor, to be up here with Richard or the wax figure." Much guffawing ensued.
Like everyone else, we assume that Petty’s statue bore nothing more than a passing resemblance to that of John Holmes, who is on display in rooms 1, 2 and part of 3.
Don’t be a sucker – buy your tickets in advance at the museum's Web site.
