BMW Posts New 3 Coupe Shots

Follow Marty

BMW had planned to wait on releasing news about the upcoming 3-Series Coupe, but some photos were leaked and published today. More news will follow next week, but what we know is that the 3-Series Coupe will initially be available in Europe with three gas engines and a diesel powerplant. The petrol engines are all in-line sixes. The 325i has the 2.5-liter 218-hp engine and sprints from 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds; the 330i is equipped with the 272-hp 3.0-liter variant and accelerates to 60 mph in 5.8 second; and the 335i, with its 3.0-liter turbo engine with 306 hp, takes in 60 mph in only 5.3 seconds. Alle engines are limited to a top speed of 156 mph. The diesel is a 231-hp 3.0-liter. The new Coupe will arrive this summer, while next year a new M3 with a 4.0-liter V-8 and over 400 hp will be available.--Henny Hemmes

  1. I thought that the coupe and convertible 3 series models were going to be named in the 4 series. I heard that BMW was changing it's model line up naming strategy 3-sedans, 4-conv and coupe(aka 3 models), 5 sedan, 6 conv coupe(5 models) and 7 sedan.

    anyone else know?

    Bad stuff?

  2. During development, the coupe was going to be called the 4-series but management thought better.. and it remains a 3. The U.S. is rumored to get the 330i and 335i only... AND the upcoming M3 may get an uprated version of the 335i turbo engine instead of the rumored V8.

  4. bangle should have kept up the experimentation of form... instead of listening to the "neo cons" of design

  5. The 4 series is now apparently going to be the name for the retractable hard top convertible version of the 3 series.
Moving to "4" would have also meant that the iconic "M3" would become an "M4", which BMW didn't think would fly.

  6. I swear the back end/tail lights looks like an old Mazda 626. BMW used to exude luxury and great European design. Now, they just look like Japanese cars rebadged as BMW's. Not a fan anymore...

  9. Did they do something about the leg room, or does BMW continue to attract buyers from China, and not from its own country.
