The Renault Clio has been a massively popular supermini inEurope ever since its launch in 1991. It’s grown larger over the years too, with the current Clio III the biggest yet.
But the French supermini is about to get an extra dose of space and practicality with the first-ever estate (wagon) version. To be badged the Sport Tourer, it takes many of its styling cues from the Grand Tour Concept, which was unveiled at Geneva earlier this year.
The car is 165.3 inches in length, but with 15.5 cubic feet of luggage space at the rear it’s designed to cater for the leisure lifestyle market rather than the serious load-lugger. After a debut at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show the car will go on sale in Europe early next year.
It’s a busy exhibition for Renault, with five new production car debuts – including the Clio Sport Tourer – and two concepts.
