By its
own admission, in car terms
Suzuki has only ever been a manufacturer of compact
vehicles and 4x4s. But all that could be about to change. At next month’s
Frankfurt Motor Show, the Japanese firm will unveil a concept version of a
D–segment family sedan.
Called
Kizashi — which means prelude or foretaste in the home language — there’s little
detail beyond this official sketch of an aggressive red front end. A massive
black grille dominates the design with the lamp clusters sloping into it and the
low-level fog lamps pushed out close to the corners of the car.
Suzuki is calling it “an all-new
proposal for our first contender in the D-segment and a significant step as we
move from a manufacturer specializing in compact cars and four-wheel drives to
one offering a much broader product portfolio.”
Also on the exhibition stand will
be the Splash supermini, built and developed in conjunction with GM, which will
badge its version the Opel/Vauxhall Agila in European
markets.
