The puns have been landing thick and fast from Skoda as part of a marketing campaign for the all-new Fabia supermini, which went on sale this week.
The TV ad features a full-sized mockup of the car make entirely from flour, eggs, sugar, and water. In short, it’s a cake. There’s also a confectionary version of an engine. Visit www.skoda.co.uk to see the promo for yourself.
With talk of the car being “a tasty model” and the “icing on the cake” of the VW-owned firm, journalists even got a packet of cake mix through the mail so they could bake their own slightly smaller version.
The original Fabia has been a massive hit in Europe, with 1.5 million sold since launch in 2000. Prices for its replacement start at about $16,000 for the 1.2-liter Fabia 1 and go up to $26,000 for the 105-hp 1.9-liter TDI PD Fabia 3.
