What Bentley says is the world’s most exclusive coupe made its North American debut in New York with the news that in the four weeks since customers first viewed Brooklands, more than half of the first year’s production of about 140 cars are now reserved.
During its three-year production lifetime, Bentley will limit output to just 550 cars, according to Stuart McCullough, Member of the Board for Sales & Marketing. Production starts in 2008 and since each coupe will be entirely hand-built, employing traditional coachbuilding techniques to customer specification, 550 unique vehicles is possible.
This makes pricing variable, though officially prices will be set later this year. Insiders say it will be possible to specify cars for more than $400,000, but some will be hand-built for less than that. —Ken Zino
