The world’s first volume production diesel hybrid car looks set for launch within the next two years.

There’s strong speculation that French manufacturer Peugeot, part of the PSA Group that includes Citroën, will offer the technology in its forthcoming compact family hatchback, the 308. A successor the aging 307, the car is set for launch later this year with the hybrid model likely to follow sometime later.

PSA is no stranger to diesel hybrids, and has revealed concept versions of products fitted with the technology in the recent past.
