Drivers who were expecting the five-seater Citroën C4 Picasso compact minivan to be just like the seven-seater but with two less chairs will be shocked – the French firm has unveiled a totally different car.
The C4 Picasso has a curved rear end instead of a squared-off one, and the rear light clusters are a completely different shape. There’s a step in the waistline near the B-pillar that’s not been seen before, and the nose has been restyled to offer more air vents. The rear pillars are masked by the quarterlight windows, giving the impression of a huge glazed area around the side and hatchback.
The interior is carried over from the seven-seater, which means the second row can be folded flat to the floor to create a large load area. An electronic parking brake and Hill Start Assist are standard, while a pneumatic rear suspension is available as an option.
The car will go on sale acrossEurope late in the spring, and while prices have not yet been confirmed they’re expected to be only slightly less than the seven-seater. With that car, this newcomer and the older Xsara Picasso that’s still on sale, Citroë n has a choice of three compact minivans – the most of any European automaker.
