Jaguar is preparing a facelift for
the
company’s luxury XJ sedan.
These
photos show a prototype on a test drive near the Jaguar factory. It sports a new
front end and rear end, and a lightly remodeled interior.
With the
facelift Jaguar hopes to boost sales of its flagship. The current model’s
old-fashioned styling hasn’t won any new customers — and in the
U.S., it’s sent the XJ to lower sales
in just its third year on the market.
The new
front grille of the XJ is said to adapt the design of the
upcoming XF
, the
replacement for the S-Type. The prototype also gets air intakes on its sides,
like Land Rover’s Range Rover and Jag’s XJ Portfolio.
The XJ
restyling is scheduled for release at the Geneva Motor Show in March
2007.
