Backed by
a charming chorus of kids dressed up as doctors, scientists, and airbags—yes,
airbags—the new Hyundai Entourage minivan bowed at the
Chicago show, positioned as a serious threat to
the Honda Odyssey. To that goal, the Entourage comes
with a raft of standard gear and safety equipment, including a 242-hp 3.8-liter
V-6 engine, a five-speed automatic transmission, front and side curtain airbags,
and stability control, along with cruise control, a CD player and three-zone
climate control. The base price of the Entourage GLS of $23,795 also includes a
third-row, 60/40 split, flip-fold Hideaway seat. Hyundai promises more interior
space than the Odyssey, as well as five-star performance in the NHTSA’s front
and side crash tests. SE models add on power sliding side doors and a power
driver seat, while the Limited model adds on a power tailgate and leather seats.
A DVD entertainment system and Infinity sound systems are
available.
