2000 volkswagen Dune beetle concept
VOLKSWAGEN DUNE Okay, so the New Beetle is now scurrying over to tackle the sand. VW's concept takes to the dunes with a variety of modifications for sissies that include big wheels, adjustable ground clearance, desert Baja-style bumpers, two tiny coolers, a navigational system, a transparent removable top, protective rails, and an aluminum-lined rear compartment. Currently, the concept houses a high-torque 2.3-liter V-5 engine with a six-gear transmission and all-wheel drive.
2000 Rolls Royce Corniche
ROLLS ROYCE CORNICHE The most expensive and elegant conveyance in the show, the all-new Corniche convertible is breathtaking. Unfortunately, it is the last gasp for Rolls Royce, which surrenders its legendary logo in 2003 to BMW while VW keeps the Bentley name. Nevertheless, the VW-owned Rolls goes out in a blaze of glory: the magnificent slimmed down Corniche, at $384,000, easily clobbers the competition in Los Angeles for sheer glamour. Tech specs include a 6.75-liter V-8 engine with 325 hp, and a maximum speed of 135 mph.

ACURA CL A high-performance, second-generation sleek luxury coupe, the 2001 CL lineup consists of two models: the 3.2 and 3.2 Type S. Both are powered by versions of Acura's 24-valve V-6. With VTEC alone it makes 225 horsepower in the 3.2, with more mods in the Type S it makes 260. The transmission is a race-inspired Formula 1 clutchless shifting, with a special sport suspension tuning on the S. Base prices are $28,000 and $32,000.
