Other Choices:

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has some wide-ranging competition, from the relatively inexpensive Nissan GT-R to the hyper-exotically priced Lexus LFA. The Porsche 911 Turbo performs in the same stratosphere, but it's just as iconic-and less pricey. The Nissan GT-R's even more of a bargain, at less than half the price of the SLS, but its clunky transmission and mass-market nameplate take the luster off its unearthly acceleration and grip. The Lexus LFA is a touch slower and twice as expensive as the SLS AMG, and it's so limited in production, you may never see one-ever. The real competition here is the Audi R8 V-10: fueled by a Lamborghini engine, shod with all-wheel drive, and planned with a spacious, well-fitted interior, it's also offered as a convertible for 2011. All that's missing? A historical hook.
