Last week, Nelson Ireson reported on the Nissan Land Glider, a low-riding EV that's flexible enough to lean into curves. Not to be left out of the fun, BMW has now unleashed its SIMPLE concept. (FYI, SIMPLE = "Sustainable and Innovative Mobility Product for Low Energy consumption". Clumsiest. Acronym. Ever.) Like the Nissan, it's a leaner, but it rides on three wheels instead of four. Reports say it's got an electric hybrid powertrain that gets 118 mpg and a cabin that's as roomy as a BMW 3 series coupe. Check the video above to see it on display at the BMW Museum in Munich -- which is about as far as it's going for now. [Engadget]

I like it, even though it looks like someone chopped off the head of an AT-AT and put wheels on it. We've seen quite a few three-wheeled proposals from major manufacturers--why don't they take off? if Americans can buy a hybrid, why not a three-wheeled car? it's the ultimate commute vehicle.
