2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Enters Production, On Sale April

January 27th, 2010 The all-new 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG isn't set to arrive in local showrooms until April but production of the exclusive supercar is already in full swing at the automaker’s assembly plant in Sindelfingen, Germany. Relatively new for a volume manufacturer like Mercedes-Benz is the SLS AMG’s handcrafted, bespoke nature--especially concerning its aluminum spaceframe chassis, V-8 engine and final assembly. However, Mercedes-Benz has several helping hands along the way. The chassis and aluminum bodyshell, for example, are produced by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, while the AMG performance division is responsible for making sure the car’s 6.2-liter V-8 engine is running up to speed. Additionally, the assembly lines and production facilities in Sindelfingen were brought up to the very latest standards for final assembly of the car. This is where specially selected, highly qualified specialists produce the gullwing model substantially by hand. Unless you have been living under a rock for the past six months you'd probably already know that the SLS AMG is a spiritual revival of the classic SL gullwing body-style, but with all the capabilities of a modern supercar. Its 571 horsepower, 479 pound-feet of torque V-8 engine, 48-52% front-rear weight distribution and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission put it right at the front of the class on paper. 1. AWESOME !!!!!
even though i'll never own one, see one or drive one. Still AWESOME !!!

  2. http://www.mercedes-amg.com/#/sls is the link to the configurator.

  3. thanx for the heads up. a shorter version of that, especially w/ the gullwing doors opening at the end, that would make an amazing super bowl commercial

  4. This would be an excellent Super Bowl ad. Too bad all the really creative agencies have been awarded contracts to do "safe" commercials for special family events. Anything buzz-worthy is posted directly to YouTube these days.

  5. saw one today. so mean. got photos if you want them for the site
