Volvo’s mid-size station wagon is mostly a carryover for 2007, with the major updates consisting of now-standard electronic stability control, revised outside rearview mirrors with built-in turn indicators and the availability of Active B-Xenon headlights that can be turned up to 15 degrees in either direction for improved night-time visibility. The rear-seat DVD entertainment system may also be ordered as a standalone option instead of as part of a package. The base engine in the V70 is a 2.4-liter five-cylinder rated at 168 horsepower (165 in states withCalifornia emissions requirements). The step-up 2.5-liter turbocharged and intercooled engine in the V70 2.5T is up-rated slightly to 208 horsepower (vs. 197 previously) while the range-topping 300-horsepower 2.5-liter engine found in the high-performance V70R sport wagon remains basically the same as before. Buyers looking for third-row seating should be aware this configuration is no longer available on either the V70 2.4 or the V70 2.5T.
