For 2007, the mid-size S60 sedan gets several updates, including a new front-end treatment with revised grille and bumper; T5 and R versions receive a “watch dial” gauge cluster similar to the design used previously on the flagship S80 sedan. All models receive redesigned outside mirrors with integrated turn signals that flash three times automatically when activated. “Active” Xenon HID headlights may be now ordered as a standalone option. Electronic stability control and a tire pressure monitoring system have been made standard on all trim levels. Front seat side impact full-length head/curtain airbags are also included in the standard equipment package. The standard engine in the S60 is the same as last year, a turbocharged 2.5 liter five-cylinder developing 208 horsepower; the step-up option is a 247 horsepower turbocharged 2.3-liter engine available in the T5. The S60 2.5T and S60 T5 may be ordered in either front or all-wheel-drive forms.

Volvo’s adaptive “Four-C” chassis that allows the driver to switch from “comfort” to “sport” ride and handling settings remains available. For high-performance enthusiasts, the R model can be ordered with a 300-horsepower version of the 2.5-liter, five-cylinder engine teamed with a six-speed Geartronic automatic featuring sport-calibrated manual/sport shift function. The S60R also offers a Servotronic power-steering system, suspension upgrades, high-capacity Brembo brakes, and the latest version of Volvo’s Haldex “Instant Traction” all-wheel drive system.
