Phaeton

Volkswagen's largest, costliest, and most luxurious vehicle comes in four-and five-seat models and is wrapped in stately styling inside and out. A standard 335-horsepower, 4.2-liter V-8 engine is mated to a six-speed-automatic transmission with Tiptronic manual-shift capability. Meanwhile, the even more posh W-12 version comes with a 6.0-liter W-12 engine that, for 2006, gets a boost in power up to a brisk 444 horses. It comes with a five-speed automatic. Four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist, a fully independent four-corner air suspension, all-wheel drive, and stability and traction control ensure a smooth ride with capable handling abilities. A four-zone climate-control system, rear power sunshade, and a satellite navigation system are all standard, as are eight individual airbags. A Park Assist system, keyless access and start functions, and a heated steering wheel are optional. Adaptive laser-guide cruise control and Bluetooth wireless-phone capability are newly offered for 2006.
