Offered
only in four-door King Cab and Crew Cab body styles, Nissan's full-size Titan
pickup debuted last year to take on both its import rival atToyota,
the Tundra, as well as its long-established domestic competitors. The Titan's
brash styling is capped by a large forceful front grille up front, and it offers
a factory-applied bedliner, bed extender, and an innovative customizable cargo
tie-down system in the rear. Its 5.6-liter "Endurance" V-8 engine generates a
sufficient 305 horsepower and 379 lb-ft of torque, and drives either the rear or
all four wheels via a five-speed-automatic transmission. While the Titan line
may not be as broad as with the domestic brands, it does boast a maximum towing
capacity of 9400 pounds and comes standard with anti-lock brakes, a CD stereo,
and a tire pressure monitor. Front-side and side-curtain airbags, and a
navigation system with park-assist proximity sensors are optional. Few changes
are in the works for 2005.
