Sentra

Nissan's front-drive compact Sentra carries on unchanged for the short term, as the automaker prepares its replacement for release sometime during 2005. In its base form, this is a competent entry-level sedan, while it can pass for a near-luxury car in its well-equipped S version, and a bona fide sports sedan as the SE-R Spec V. A 126-horsepower 1.8-liter engine is standard and comes mated to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission; a 165-horsepower 2.5-liter powerplant is also available. Meanwhile, on the sporty side, the SE-R gets a 175-horsepower 2.5-liter version, with the SE-R Spec V substituting a 185-horsepower version and a six-speed manual gearbox.
