The Maxima undergoes several major revisions for '07, most notably, the deleting of its formerly available six-speed manual gearbox in favor of standard CVTs across the line. Its 3.5-liter V-6 has also been downrated significantly to 255 horsepower. That means the Maxima's no longer top gun among Nissan sport sedans. That honor now belongs to the '07 Altima V-6 with the six-speed manual gearbox. The Maxima's still a credible performer, though, and it offers a comfortable, stylish interior that's roomier than the Altima's. Other changes for '07 include revised cosmetics on the outside (new front end/grille, hood, headlights, rear end, etc.) and a freshened interior layout with new design center stack. The Skyview panorama glass roof remains a standard feature for '07, as do the two basic trim lines—standard (and sport-themed) SE and the more luxury-oriented SL. DVD-based navigation is available, as is Bluetooth wireless communication capability and an upgraded stereo with MP3 player. Traction control is standard on both trims, but stability control remains optional for '07.
