Montero

Continuing for what will be its final year sold in the U.S., the full-size, four-wheel-drive Montero sport-utility vehicle remains both luxurious and rugged. Available only in a single trim level, Limited, the Montero comes powered by a 3.8-liter, 24-valve V-6 engine that produces 215-horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. It's mated to a five-speed Sportronic automatic transmission that can be shifted through the gears like a manual. A front, double-wishbone suspension with a multilink array at the rear, combined with a slightly lower-than-average ride height affords a smooth ride with capable on-road handling. It is endowed with a 5000-pound towing capacity. Four-wheel, anti-lock disc brakes are included. Inside, the seven-passenger cabin is both roomy and comfortable. Standard equipment is plentiful and includes Active Skid and traction control systems and side-impact airbags. The only available option is a rear-seat DVD entertainment system that comes with two sets of wireless headphones.
