The full-size Montego sedan is a car for people who like the Grand Marquis' size and room but prefer the superior traction of front- (or all-wheel) drive and a more up-to-date car. Because it is a recent addition to the Mercury lineup (2006), changes for '07 are modest. Traction control is now standard on all versions, as are seat-mounted side-impact and curtain airbags. Sirius satellite radio has also been added to the roster. Underhood, a 200-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6 engine drives either the front or all four wheels (on all-wheel-drive models) via either a continuously variable transmission (CVT) or a conventional six-speed automatic gearbox. A fully independent suspension, four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes and standard 17-inch wheels and tires contribute to the car's stellar ride and handling qualities. New-design 18-inch chrome wheels are available for 2007. All trim lines get a leather-wrapped steering wheel with satin-aluminum cuffs and secondary audio and speed controls, with a DVD entertainment array, navigation system and power adjustable pedals available optionally.
