The new-for-2006 mid-size Milan sedan is based on the same platform that provides the underpinnings for the Mazda6 and the also new Ford Fusion and Lincoln Zephyr. The Milan carries bold styling and offers a roomy interior with ample legroom and expansive cargo space. There's choice of either a 160-horsepower, 2.3-liter four-cylinder or a 221-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6; the in-line four can be mated to either a standard five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission, while the V-6 comes with a standard six-speed automatic. Riding on a four-wheel independent suspension, with four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, the front-drive Milan delivers crisp cornering abilities without sacrificing ride quality. An audiophile sound system, power moonroof, and heated leather seats highlight the options list. Both all-wheel-drive and hybrid gas/electric-powered versions are planned for subsequent model years.
