The 2008 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class features many safety features as standard, but neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has tested its crash performance to date.

Cars.com reports standard safety features on all 2008 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class vehicles includes "three-row side curtain airbags and seat-mounted side-impact airbags for the first and second rows." Also standard are "active head restraints, all-disc anti-lock brakes, traction control and an electronic stability system."

Edmunds.com says "hill start assist, hill descent control and TeleAid are also included" on the Mercedes-Benz 2008 GL.

Safercar.gov indicates that daytime running lights, auto door locks, automatic crash notification, and tire pressure monitors are all standard in the 2008 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class. Auto-dimming rearview mirrors are optional.

For those with small children, LATCH child seat anchors are located on the outboard seats of the second and third rows.

Conclusion

The 2008 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class has comprehensive safety gear, but hasn’t been tested yet.
