2007 Mercedes-Benz E Class Review

April 3, 2008

Mercedes’ elegant and capable mid-size sedan and wagon is refreshed for 2007 with exterior styling changes that include a new front bumper and lower air dam, revised grille, headlights, and tail-lights. All ’07 models are equipped with a standard sunroof and upgraded Harmon Kardon stereo with six-disc CD-changer — as well as a PRE SAFE collision-anticipation system that prepares the car’s safety systems when an imminent crash is anticipated. Model designations are shifted for 2007 as well. The E500 is replaced by a new E550, with a standard 382 hp V-8 vs. the 302 hp V-8 in last year’s E500. An updated AMG version of the E-Class is on deck for later in the model year, as well as a new diesel E-Class. A Sport package is available that adds specific 18-inch wheels, lowered sport-tuned suspension, dual chrome exhaust tips, and Birdseye maple trim for the interior. Standard safety items include four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and Brake Assist, side-impact and head-curtain airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Automatic Slip Control, and active head restraints to help reduce whiplash injuries. Optional amenities include a navigation system, adaptive cruise control, heated seats and steering wheel, and a power trunk closer. 2007 models all get an iPod operating interface that integrates the portable MP3 player with the car’s audio system.

The car is fine, but the Harman kardon upgraded sound system is TERRIBLE!!! It is really a shame to the Mercedes name.
