In 2006, Mercedes’ mid-size, sporty luxury coupe and convertible received a cosmetic facelift including a revised grille, front apron, new taillights, and new alloy wheels.
For 2008, the 475-hp CLK63 AMG Cabriolet is now joined by a CLK63 AMG Black coupe with 500 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. The midrange CLK550 is carried over with 382 horsepower, a sport interior, and an AMG-tuned exhaust.
The base CLK350 returns with its 268-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. For 2008, it adds a sport suspension and twin six-spoke 18-inch wheels as standard equipment.
Standard safety items include four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock and Brake Assist, side and curtain airbags, stability control, Automatic Slip Control, and active head restraints to help reduce whiplash injuries.
An Apple iPod/MP3 player is built into the car's audio system. The player is operated via steering-wheel controls and the multifunction display in the car's instrument cluster.
