CL-Class
Mercedes' sporty coupe version of its posh S-Class sedan combines performance and comfort, with ample standard convenience features. The base CL500 is powered by a 302-horsepower 5.0-liter V-8, while the CL600 is fitted with a 493-horsepower, 5.5-liter V-12. The high-performance CL55 AMG version comes packed with a 493-horsepower, 5.5-liter V-8 engine, while a V-12-equipped CL65 AMG version leads the pack with an exhilarating 604 horses. A seven-speed-automatic transmission is standard, along with four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, front-side and side-curtain airbags, traction control, Automatic Slip Control, M-B's Electronic Stability Program and a satellite navigation system. Its computer-controlled suspension system keeps the car virtually flat even around the sharpest curves. Among its highline available options are a Keyless Go entry and starting system, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and front and rear Parktronic proximity sensors. For 2006, the AMG Sport package becomes standard on CL500 and CL600 versions, while Keyless Go, the heated steering wheel, and an electronic trunk closer are newly standard on the CL600. Also to be added during 2006 is an available interface that allows an Apple iPod MP3 player to integrate with the car's audio system.
