Mercedes-Benz's compact C-Class line receives the same styling revisions across the line for 2005 as were introduced in last year's Sport sedan version. The latter is graced with even more-aggressive appearance upgrades this year while its coupe counterpart receives a restyled front grille. A supercharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission continues as the standard powertrain in the C230 Kompressor Sport sedan and coupe. C320 models come powered by a 215-horsepower, 3.2-liter V-6, while the top C55 AMG includes a 362-horsepower V-8. Redesigned interiors feature a new dashboard, instrument cluster, steering wheel and console, as well as upgraded seats with added support. Luxury models sport new wood interior trim. Four-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with brake assist, Automatic Slip Control, Electronic Stability Program, and front-side and side-curtain airbags are now all standard.

Value-priced C-Class strikes a good balance.
