Mazda's front-wheel-drive minivan comes powered by a 200-horsepower 3.0-liter V-6 engine that's mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. While the MPV is smaller than most minivans and doesn't come in extended-length versions, this means it's arguably the best-handling vehicle in its class and is better equipped to navigate congested urban areas. Offering the usual family related amenities, the MPV is one of only two vans to offer roll-down (or powered) windows on its sliding rear doors. Anti-lock power brakes with brakeforce distribution come standard, and traction control is optional. A freshening last year included new headlights, hood, front fenders, grille, stop and turn lamps, bumpers and side skirts, revised seats, adaptive front airbags, and carbon-fiber-look dashboard panels. It remains status quo for 2005.
