Mazda6
This uniquely styled and sporty line of front-drive line of four-door sedans, hatchbacks and sport wagons receive new front and rear fascias, side sills, and a revised grille for 2006. Power continues to come from either a standard 160-horsepower, 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine or a 220-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6. For 2006, anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and traction control are newly standard across the line. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard on the base model, with a four-speed automatic transmission alternately available, while the V-6 can be mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. Front-side and side-curtain airbags are optional. New for 2006 is a high-performance MAZDASPEED version that's equipped with a 274-horsepower turbocharged direct-injection gasoline engine, six-speed manual transmission, and a new all-wheel-drive system. It's further distinguished by unique front fenders, front and rear fascias, hood, grille, rear spoiler and side sills, along with sport bucket front seats, a Bose audio system, scuff plates with stainless-steel inserts, aluminum pedals, and a keyless entry/start function. A Grand Touring options package offered only on this model includes heated leather seats, a power driver's seat, heated mirrors, and keyless entry and start. Three new exterior colors are offered this year: Dark Cherry on the sedan and wagon, Bright Island Blue on the hatchback, and Tungsten Gray across the range.
