Quattroporte

The new Quattroporte sedan is the first Maserati in half a century to be sculpted byItaly's Pininfarina design firm. This large, plush rear-drive sedan is powered by a 4.2-liter V-8 engine that uses electronic throttle control to generate a generous 400 horsepower; it drives the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission that affords manual-shift capability. Its 0-60 mph times are said to clock in at just over five seconds. The car's handling benefits from a fully independent front and rear double-wishbone suspension, gas shocks, the automaker's Skyhook continuously variable adaptive damping system, the Maserati Stability Program, Brembo anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and 18-inch wheels and tires (19-inch wheels and tires are optional). The Quattroporte's modern-looking leather-trimmed interior can be finished in either various hardwoods or genuine titanium, and includes front, front-side and side-curtain airbags.

Car meets couture in a winning, nearly hand-built package.
