Sharing platforms with the Jaguar S-Type, though with exclusive powertrains and unique styling, Lincoln's mid-size rear-drive sedan continues for what will be its final model year with a simplified model lineup that's now limited to a single V-8 Sport version. Plus, the design elements of last year's LSE trim (chrome grille with body-color surround, round fog lamps, and body-color rear license plate trim) are incorporated into the 2006 model. A 280-horsepower 3.9-liter V-8 engine is mated to a smooth-shifting five-speed automatic transmission, and a four-wheel sport-tuned independent suspension provides a comfortable ride with good handling. Anti-lock brakes, front side airbags, and traction control are standard, with AdvanceTrac stability control, side-curtain airbags, power-adjustable pedals, and extended Rear Park Assist optional. For 2006, two new 17-inch wheels are offered, and Dark Cherry Clearcoat Metallic and Pewter Clearcoat Metallic are added to the LS' exterior color choices.

Now it's really a driver's car.
