For 2005, Lincoln's luxury edition of the same basic vehicle that's also available as the Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer is updated with a redesigned chrome grille, new 17-inch, seven-spoke machined aluminum wheels (with chrome-clad and full chrome wheels newly optional) and revamped interior and exterior color choices. What's more, Ford's AdvanceTrak yaw-control system with Roll Stability Control becomes standard this year. A 302-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8 engine drives either the rear- or all four wheels (in 4WD versions) via a five-speed automatic transmission. With exterior and interior styling cues borrowed from its larger sibling, the Navigator, the Aviator likewise comes packed with features, including four-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with brake assist, side-curtain airbags a CD stereo, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, a garage door opener, power seats, adjustable pedals, heated side mirrors, rear park assist, leather upholstery, and a leather/wood-trimmed steering wheel.
