The RX400h is a gas-electric hybrid version of RX350 crossover vehicle. Updates for the new model year include the availability of a new front-wheel-drive model, revised "400h" badging, standard 17-inch wheels (18-inch wheels are optional), newly standard 10-way power front passenger seat and the option of either aluminum or wood trim for the interior. The RX400h is powered by a 3.3-liter V-6 engine and the latest version of Toyota 's Hybrid Synergy Drive that includes two separate electric motor/generators, one each at the front and rear axles, working through a continuously variable automatic transmission. Combined, the two power sources generate the equivalent of 268 horsepower. The hybrid RX400h can reach 60 mph in 7.3 seconds, tow up to 3,500 pounds and achieves up to 32 mpg city/27 mpg highway (for front-drive models). Electric-assist power steering, anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist, traction control, stability control and Lexus' new Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system (VDIM) for added surefootedness over a wide variety of conditions are standard. A DVD navigation system, laser-guided cruise control, rear-seat DVD entertainment system, and a Mark Levinson premium audio system are optional.
