The mid-size GS-Series sport sedans get several important updates for 2007, chief among them a new 303-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 in the GS350. This engine replaces the 245-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6 that was standard in 2006. The added power makes the GS350 a very quick car; it’s capable of getting to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. Both rear- and all-wheel-drive versions are available, as before. A six-speed automatic with sequential manual shift mode is the only transmission choice. The rear-drive-only GS430's V-8 is a carryover, still producing 290 horsepower. This is less power than the new V-6, but the larger engine still provides more torque (319 pound-feet versus. 274 for the V-6). The GS430 also receives newly standard 18-inch wheels (optional on the GS350) and an available active stabilizer system that automatically counteracts body sway to improve cornering performance. It also gets the new Generation 5 Lexus DVD Navigation System with Bluetooth compatibility, voice activation and a rear back-up camera. An Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system remains exclusive to the GS 430. It has four suspension settings, including "sport," for tighter, more precise control. AVS can automatically select appropriate suspension damping for driving conditions. In addition, the Lexus Link telematics system is now available for 2007 GS models.
