Lexus' sporty rear-wheel-drive V-6-powered GS300 and V-8-powered GS430 sedans remain unchanged for the 2005 model year, as the automaker prepares an all-new GS for release as an early 2006 model. In its current form, the GS300 offers a 220-horsepower 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine that's coupled to a five-speed-automatic transmission that can be shifted manually via steering-wheel-mounted buttons. The GS430 includes a 300-horsepower, 4.3-liter V-8 engine, with added amenities. Four-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with brake assist, front-side and side-curtain airbags, traction control, and vehicle skid control are standard across the line. Also included are conveniences like dual-zone air conditioning and a CD changer, power leather seats, tilt/telescoping steering wheel and heated mirrors, keyless entry, fog lights, a garage-door opener, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. High-intensity headlamps, a navigation system, and an audiophile Mark Levinson stereo are optional.

Not too soft, not too serious - this one's just about right.
