Sorento

While it's far from being the leading edge among mid-size sport-utility vehicles, Kia's Sorento performs adequately in both rear- and four-wheel-drive versions, the latter of which come with a choice of either part-time or full-time Torque-on-Demand 4WD systems. A 3.5-liter V-6 generates 192 horsepower and 217 lb-ft of torque, and can be mated to either a four-speed-automatic transmission or a five-speed-manual gearbox. The vehicle includes standard four-wheel-disc brakes, a CD stereo, cruise control, power locks, mirrors and windows, and a rear wiper/washer. Anti-lock brakes, an automatic load-leveling suspension, automatic climate control, and heated leather seats are among the Sorento's options. An available Sport Package includes appearance items like step bars, a roof rack, alloy wheels, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Minor updates only are included for 2005.
