XK Series

With timelessly sleek styling and a sporty demeanor that harkens back to Jaguar's classic XK-E models from the early 1960s, the XK remains a rakish low-to-the-ground luxury coupe and convertible combo. The standard XK8 version offers a 294-horsepower 4.2-liter V-8 engine, while those with a true need for speed will savor the top XKR model and its 390-horsepower supercharged version of the 4.2 liter V-8, along with a variety of upgrades. An optional Handling Package is available that takes the R's version's performance up another notch. Four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, traction control, Dynamic Stability Control, and front-side airbags all come standard. A 1050-car run of the specially trimmed Victory Edition will be built to celebrate the XK's four championship wins in the North American Trans-Am Series. Otherwise, few changes are in store for 2006, as the XK awaits a major redesign for the 2007 model year.

2003 Jaguar XKR by Marc K. Stengel (3/24/2003)
Jaguar's flagship XKR coupe satisfies one schmo's twin longings for beauty and performance.
