The 2009 Infiniti G37 sedan isn't without its flaws, and most of them are evident within the cabin, where the G37 proves it isn't the most refined or spacious entry in the sport sedan segment.

One of the Infiniti G37's biggest interior attributes is its pair of front bucket seats, which Kelley Blue Book calls "amazingly comfortable and supportive," with standard "eight-way power adjustment for the driver and four-way for the passenger, plus manually adjustable lumbar supports." Other reviews read by TheCarConnection.com enthusiastically agree, with ConsumerGuide adding that "the seats in Sport models have additional side bolstering to keep occupants planted in fast cornering." Unfortunately, while Cars.com says the 2009 Infiniti "G37 seats five," Kelley Blue Book reviewers warn that "rear passengers will find the G37 sedan's rear bench seat belted for three but contoured for two average-sized adults at best." On the positive side, Edmunds points out that rear "passengers are treated to a satisfactory amount of headroom and legroom for a sport sedan, though the cushion is rather low."

If you plan on using the 2009 Infiniti G37 for weekend thrills, then you probably won't care too much about its available cargo space. For those with more utilitarian plans regarding the Infiniti G37, ConsumerGuide's criticism of "interior small-item storage space [as] just fair" will come as a bigger disappointment. The trunk isn't particularly large either, measuring just 13.5 cubic feet, but Edmunds reviewers claim it proves "surprisingly capacious," thanks to its intelligent layout.

Don't expect to be blown away by the materials inside Infiniti's 2009 G37 lineup, especially considering the price you'll pay for the privilege of owning one. ConsumerGuide claims that "assembly quality and most interior materials are on target for the class, with real aluminum or wood trim available." Edmunds agrees, pointing out that "materials are mostly of high quality, though the pebbled plastic on the center console feels downmarket, as does the flimsy overhead map-light housing." On the positive side, Edmunds deems "fit and finish [is] generally good," while Cars.com notes the numerous "high-quality materials" inside the Infiniti 2009 G37's cabin.

One area where current G35 owners will wish for improvement—and find none—is in the Infiniti 2009 G37's cabin noise levels. Motor Trend reviewers "noticed more noise than [they were] expecting" during their test drives, while Edmunds reports that they "found road noise to be an issue during highway cruising." ConsumerGuide agrees, observing that "road noise is evident on coarse surfaces, especially with the tires included on the G37 Sport."

Conclusion

Comfortable seats are to be expected on the 2009 Infiniti G37, but at this price range, road noise should be more hushed at highway speeds.

Other Choices:

The BMW 3-Series is the G37 Sedan's model natural rival; like the G37, it has head-of-the-class handling ability, with a poise and balance that builds confidence. TheCarConnection.com's editors dare say they like the steering feel of the 2009 G37 Sedan even better than that in the latest 3-Series. But compared to the G37, the 3-Series comes across as a more refined, more composed car in such respects as ride and noise. The new Audi A4 is an even more refined competitor; its beautiful interior leads the group, with top-notch materials and a cohesive design inside and out. With its new rear-biased Quattro all-wheel-drive system and a greatly improved weight balance, it's a blast to drive as well. The Lexus IS is competent, but just not up to the lofty standards of the other vehicles in this group; its interior is a bit cramped and lacking in personality, and it just doesn't feel as spirited overall. The Subaru Legacy is another alternative; in track-worthy Legacy GT Spec.B trim, the Legacy has the goods to keep up with the G37 on a twisty road. But with 85 more horsepower, the G37 will leave it in the dust on straightaways. The Spec.B also isn't any cheaper than the Infiniti, and you get much better dealer service from the luxury marque.
