The compact Tucson SUV was introduced last year as a smaller and bargain-priced alternative to Hyundai's Santa Fe. Featuring muscular styling that's highlighted by deeply carved hood lines and a raked roofline, the vehicle's interior includes a 60/40-split flat-folding rear seat to expand its cargo-carrying capabilities. A 140-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder powerplant is standard and can drive either the front or all four wheels via a five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift capability. GLS and LX trim levels include a 173-horsepower 2.7-liter V-6 that's available only with the automatic gearbox. All Hyundais are backed by a five-year/60,000-mile comprehensive warranty, with ten-year/100,000 limited powertrain coverage. For the 2006 model year, the Tucson undergoes subtle cosmetic changes and adds a new top Limited trim level.
