With a spacious interior that's larger than any of the mid-size Japanese competition, the redesigned (in 2006) Sonata sedan comes wrapped in a more contemporary exterior, highlighted by a concave-domed hood, sweeping roofline and jeweled projector-style headlamps. For 2007, there are several changes and updates, including a $500-$800 price drop on base GLS models with the 2.4-liter, 162-horsepower four-cylinder engine, the addition of a new V-6 SE model equipped with 17-inch rims and a 234-horsepower 3.3-liter engine, and a new range-topping Limited trim with chrome grille and optionally available Infinity premium audio system. The availability of XM satellite radio and two new color choices—Dark Cherry Red and Natural Khaki—round out the updates for '07. The front-drive Sonata's safety equipment includes four-wheel-disc brakes with anti-lock brakes and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, traction control, stability control, front-seat side-impact airbags, side-curtain airbags and active front head restraints to help reduce whiplash injuries. This sedan has a large (16.3 cubic foot) trunk and a generously-sized interior with ample leg, head and shoulder room for all passengers.
